Hungarian tenor Botond Pál is a member of the prestigious Éva Marton International Opera Studio, led by the world-renowned soprano Éva Marton, and a student of the celebrated tenor István Kovácsházi.

He graduated from the University of Pécs with a degree in classical vocal performance and has quickly established himself as a compelling presence on both the opera and concert stage.

He made his professional debut at the Hungarian State Opera in Modest Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov (original version), where he performed both Grigory (the Pretender) and the Fool of Christ on the same evening—an exceptional dual role debut that marked a major milestone in his career.

His operatic repertoire includes Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Don Basilio and Don Curzio (Le nozze di Figaro), Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi), and Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas).

He appeared as Spoletta in Tosca in a production directed by José Cura, who also performed the role of Cavaradossi. As Pong in Turandot, he shared the stage with the internationally acclaimed tenor Yusif Eyvazov.

Botond is also devoted to contemporary music. He participated in the world premieres of Péter Eötvös’s Valuska at the Eiffel Art Studios, János Vajda’s Töredék – A teljesség felé at the Kodály Center in Pécs, and László Dubrovay’s song cycle Szerelem, szerelem.

As a concert soloist, he has performed major works including Hector Berlioz’s Lélio, ou le retour à la vie, Gioachino Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Giacomo Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, and W. A. Mozart’s Requiem.

In the summer of 2025, he sang the role of Rinaldo in Joseph Haydn’s Armida with OperaNeo in San Diego, presented at the University of San Diego (USSD).

His recognitions include Best Male Singer at the Hungarian Song Marathon (2024), 2nd Prize at the Bordalnok Singing Competition (2023), and the Special Prize at the Erzsébet Házy Singing Competition (2016).
